Product & Craftsmanship

Who are the makers behind Arthyaa garments?

Our garments are made by skilled artisans who specialize in traditional Indian dyeing, weaving, and hand-finishing techniques.

Where are your pieces crafted?

Our pieces are made in small workshops across India, in regions known for their specific textile heritage. We work directly with artisan partners who are paid fairly and operate in safe, respectful working environments.

What kinds of materials do you work with?

We use 100% natural fabrics like hemp, silk, and linen, always sourced with sustainability and quality in mind. Read more about the healing properties of natural fibers on our blog page here.

Why might there be slight variations between pieces?

Each piece is handcrafted and made-to-order using traditional methods, so slight variations in color, weave, or print are natural and part of the process.

Fit & Sizing

How do I find my size?

Our size guide is available on each product page. You can also find it here. If you’re unsure or between sizes, we recommend sizing up for a more relaxed fit.

Do you offer custom sizing or adjustments?

Yes, we offer custom sizing for select pieces. This will be noted on the individual product page. After your order is placed, we’ll also follow up to gather your measurements and tailor the fit.For bespoke garments, we create one-of-a-kind pieces designed specifically for you. Learn more about the bespoke process here.

What if my custom-sized piece doesn’t fit perfectly?

Custom-sized garments are made using your provided measurements, but light tailoring may still be needed. Everybody wears clothing differently, and small adjustments are a natural part of the process. Most pieces are constructed with seam allowance to allow for easy alterations by a local tailor. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to advise your tailor directly.

Care Instructions

How should I care for my garment?

To ensure the longevity of your linen and hemp garments, we recommend hand washing or using a gentle machine cycle with mild detergent. Always hang to dry in the shade to help preserve the fabric’s color and texture. If machine washing, place items in a protective laundry bag to safeguard the fibers. Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals, as they can damage both the fabric and the dye. For best results, use a classic iron on the appropriate fabric setting to smooth out wrinkles. For delicate items such as silk or embroidered pieces, professional dry cleaning is recommended. When storing, wrap them in a soft scarf or cloth to protect the fabric and any intricate detailing.

Do natural dyes fade or transfer?

Natural dyes may soften slightly over time and can transfer when wet. We recommend washing separately the first couple of times.

Bespoke Orders

How does the bespoke process work?

We start with a consultation to understand your vision, fit, and preferences. From there, we design a one-of-a-kind garment made to your measurements. Learn more about the process at our The Art of Bespoke page.

How long does a bespoke piece take?

Bespoke garments typically take 8 to 12 weeks, depending on design complexity. We'll provide a timeline after your consultation.

Can I request specific colors or fabrics?

Yes, we offer a curated selection of fabrics and natural dyes, which we’ll review together during the consultation.

What if my bespoke garment doesn’t fit perfectly?

Even with precise measurements, it is common for bespoke garments to need small adjustments. Factors like posture, proportions, and personal comfort all affect how a garment settles on the body. We view this as part of the process, not a flaw.

Can the fit be adjusted after I receive my garment?

Yes. All our bespoke garments are thoughtfully constructed with extra seam allowance so that light alterations can be made by a local tailor without compromising the design or fabric integrity. We’re happy to advise your tailor if any support is needed.
